Looking at Olins' works, we can deduce that he could possibly have been influenced by the abstract art movement, Colour Field. This movement started in New York during the 40s and 50s, and is characterized by large, flat areas of solid colour spread across the canvas, placing less emphasis on detail and brushstrokes. Olins also tends to use blocked areas of colour as is prominent in both his 3i and Repsol works, among others, and his overall style is very similar to the style of Colour Field.
